The public has spoken and Boris Johnson has been elected as Prime Minister. Even though the Conservative Party said they would review the IR35 reforms in the private sector, given they were the architects of the legislation, we strongly believe that these changes will go ahead as planned however watch this space for further announcements.
2019 has been a busy year at PayStream. We’ve had some amazing successes starting with winning best contractor accountant in both the Talint International supplier awards in June and the Contracting Awards which were held in November. We’ve also exceeded expectations by further enhancing our Customer Service Excellence accreditation with 19 compliance plus awards.
In preparation for April 2020 we’ve been sharing our skills and expertise by trying to ensure our agency partners are as prepared as possible for the IR35 private sector reforms. Given this, we share with you some practical IR35 considerations for clients in this newsletter.
We’ve also enjoyed more agency successes by joining a number of new PSLs. And our new IR35 review service, IR35 Comply, has also been chosen as the preferred IR35 review service by a number of blue chip companies.
As you can see, IR35 Comply, has also been really well received by the market. It not only provides an easy to use, accessible way to carry out an IR35 review, but unlike the CEST tool, it also has a team of IR35 experts evaluating all of the information provided by the contractor, agency or hirer. This allows us to paint a picture of the overall working circumstances of the role before determining an IR35 status. That independent, specialist review satisfies the reasonable care requirement and can protect the individual or organisation involved.
For many years now we have been advising agencies to work with preferred supplier lists (PSL). Recent government developments has meant that the industry are finally taking note. It is now more important than ever before to be confident that you are using compliant providers and a PSL is the best way to do that. We have been providing help and advice on the best way to do that, however setting it up is just the beginning. Ensuring that staff members are adhering to the list can be even trickier so again we provide some hints and tips on how to manage your PSL.
All that’s left for me to do, is wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year and to wish us all luck as to what 2020 will bring, but whatever it is, you can be sure that PayStream will be ready to tackle it head on, with minimal disruption to those using our services.
