Adam Fairclough joined PayStream back in April 2014 and works as one of our New Business Consultants. We wanted to find out a little more about Adam and his PayStream journey.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to PayStream?

I’ve recently turned 30 and have just realised as I’m typing this that I’ve worked within this industry for over a decade now! Initially I worked as a compliance advisor at another payroll provider before switching to an account management sales role. Keen to gain further experience, joining a market leader in PayStream was a natural progression and has undoubtedly proved to be a good decision.

2. What is a typical day at PayStream like?

A typical PayStream day is never boring! The business has enjoyed continued growth and is always a busy and vibrant place to work. We focus on delivering quick turnarounds for our agency partners and have a customer centric attitude that each and every client matters. PayStream offer a range of payroll and accountancy services to suit all contractors’ needs therefore in a typical working day we’re always on hand to offer individually tailored illustrations for our umbrella and accountancy packages as well as self-employed contracting.

3. How does PayStream compare to your previous workplaces?

The main difference is, PayStream has a positive ‘can do’ culture where everyone is driven to succeed. Whilst hard work is paramount to any successful organisation, PayStream has developed a strong brand over the years through recruiting the right people and having an excellent infrastructure to deliver excellent service. There is a definite buzz across the business as a whole and all staff have the option of attending regular 'PlayStream' events provided by the company to reward staff for their efforts.

4. What do you enjoy most about working at PayStream?

Working for a successful company that rewards me for my performance and values every individual’s input, is a major plus point for me. There is a palpable sense of all staff benefitting from the businesses success with all departments working towards the goal of delivering a premium service. There are of course many companies out there with good staff although PayStream continually aim to exceed across all areas of the business. Also working at PayStream has been a key factor in enabling me to buy my first house.

5. What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Despite having a keen interest in music, art and the 007 franchise - it’s with some candour I confess I'd probably not be cut out for life as a rock star or a secret agent. When the mood takes me I still occasionally pick up one of my guitars and actually used to teach for a while to supplement my income whilst in my early 20’s. For many years though I admit to being completely addicted to politics and its strategies. I’ve therefore spent a considerable amount of time listening to speeches and observing the cut and thrust of political debate!

6. What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

Dining out with friends and family comes high on the list. If a band or songwriter I like is touring, within reason I'll travel anywhere across the UK to support them. This has resulted in me going to quite a number of random locations I may have otherwise never experienced. I also enjoy art exhibitions and read countless football and politics autobiographies – so many insightful anecdotes!

Are you a PayStream Person?

We are really proud to say that Adam’s PayStream success story is just one of many.  That’s because we understand that our employees are our greatest asset so we put our people at the heart of everything we do.
