For many, Christmas can be a wonderful time of year, however it’s important to remember that not everyone is in a position to treat themselves or their loved ones. That’s why we have chosen to support some well deserving charities this Christmas.

Trafford Leaving Care Services

Over 41% of care leavers aged 19-21 find themselves out of work, education or training, so they often need further help and support when making the transition from care into independent living.

"The Trafford Leaving Care Services Team are trying to give a little magic this Christmas to our care leavers aged between 18-25 years old." - Mark Bailey, Trafford Advocacy and Engagement Officer.

That’s where Trafford Leaving Care Services play their important role. They help young people who were unable to live with their biological families and have grown up in children’s homes, residential schools and with foster carers in to early adulthood transition into their new lives as smoothly as possible.

Mark Bailey, Trafford Leaving Care Services Advocacy and Engagement Officer said: ‘At Trafford we are really proud of our young people and believe we have some of the most resilient young people around! So the Trafford Leaving Care Services Team are trying to give a little magic this Christmas to our care leavers aged between 18 - 25 years old.’

"Mark and the team at Trafford Council are doing great work supporting these young people through often challenging times" - Clare Baker, Head of HR.

To help the team spread some Christmas cheer, we have donated a number of gift cards to the charity to make sure these young adults are able to treat themselves to a little gift this Christmas.

Clare Baker, Head of HR at PayStream said: “This is such an amazing cause and PayStream are delighted to provide a small gift to those young heroes starting their journey of independence in the Trafford area. Mark and the team at Trafford Council are doing great work supporting these young people through often challenging times, letting them know that there is always someone who cares about them and that there is somewhere to turn to for help if they need it. It’s amazing that PayStream was able to offer some of these young people a Christmas voucher to show them they are important and cared for. Thanks!”

The Trussell Trust

In the spirit of helping people that don’t have enough this year we’ve also put together donations for the ‘Trussell Trust’. They are doing fantastic work by supporting more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK and delivering 1.3 million emergency food parcels in the last 6 months.

With food banks being utilised more than ever in the current financial climate, our HR team have been collecting household supplies such as Coffee, pet food and washing powder donated from our employees. The aim is to try and make sure nobody has to go without the basic living essentials.

The cost of living crisis has meant that charities are receiving fewer donations than usual at a time when people need more help than ever before. That’s why we’ve donated £1000’s to both local and nationwide charities which were close to the hearts of our staff.
